Can/should I go back to a later version? Its just unbelievably frustrating to deal with now. Also since that first update when starting up after installing it'll pause about halfway through on that gray screen and ill have to restart it a few times to get the install to fully complete.Īny ideas what my issue is? I mostly use my computer for just school and work. Also launching another app does the same thing when I launch it no matter how long the Mac has been on. Although, this is a usual trend that happens when you upgrade your OS X. However, it has a shorter lifespan on macOS Sierra (for the same device). But the big issue is like what happened after Yosemite, the slow start for a few minutes except now Safari basically freezes for a few minutes and ill get the ballon icon two or three times until it kinda warms up and then it'll run okay, still slow but not horribly. The battery life of OS X El Capitan is approximately 6 to 7 hours on a MacBook Air bought in 2013. This could have always been like that I just don't remember it. Every time I power on I get the gray screen with the black loading bar just like the one when your mac is restarting after an update for 30 seconds or so. And since then all hell has broken loose. Then about a month later El Capitan was released and I read online it was supposed to help speeds on "older" MacBooks, so I was in. It was kinda just a whatever ill just deal with it.

Safari opened slowly, along with websites then after 2 or 3 minutes it would run normally. Mostly just on start up it would take my Mac a few minutes to get warmed up it seemed. About 3 months ago I decided to upgrade to Yosemite which is where my problems began. I bought it in 2013 new running whatever came with it (Mountain Lion I believe?) and it ran great, no issues at all.
